MSI keeps a permanent record of every watermark along with recipient, sender, and content metadata. The number is growing, but as of February, 2011, MSI is tracking over 37 million unique watermarked assets for some of world’s most prominent content owners and artists.

The permanent watermark embedded by MSI cannot be removed without substantial degradation of content quality. Thus watermarked assets discovered in the field can be easily traced back to their original source—including who sent the content and who received it.

MSI partners with top crawlers for active content discovery—including P2P, UGC, and lockers. Active discovery enables timely takedown notification, leak monetization, and business intelligence.
